Developing skills to lead in a changing environment within the NHS

Great change leaders focused on people and processes. They recognized that soft skills, such as empathy, compassion, and authenticity, were essential if a leader was to successfully lead during periods of change. While some things in the NHS remained constant, the Service also had to adapt to regular change, such as changes in organisational structures and new skills staff needed to be successful within these.

Corndel and Imperial Business School had worked together to develop an Executive Development Programme for the NHS, which a number of senior staff from Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust had been taking part in since early 2022. This webinar was an opportunity to hear from some of the leaders within ICHT about what they saw as the main skills needed then and in the coming years, and how ICHT were addressing this need.
