Modular learning experience

We deploy a modular course design that meets and exceeds the requirements of the Software Developer Apprenticeship Standard. Employers select appropriate modules based on their needs and the apprentice’s job role.

Employers can select Programming Languages, Platforms and one Database Technology, based on their individual requirements.

Core skills developed on the programme

By the end of the programme learners will have developed the skills to:

  • Develop effective user interfaces
  • Work with data and databases
  • Rigorously test code
  • Debug code and problem solve
  • Create data models
  • Create use cases
  • Deploy code into enterprise environments
  • Apply best practice approaches

  • Interpret and follow company defined ‘coding standards’ and industry coding best practice
  • Work with different testing frameworks and methodologies
  • Approach continuous integration and version and source control
  • Respond to different business environments
  • Respond to business issues related to software development
  • Operate effectively in different industry environments
  • Apply algorithms, logic and data structures
  • Understand and operates at all stages of the software development lifecycle
  • Understand the difference between agile and waterfall software development
  • Apply software design approaches and patterns
  • Communicate effectively in a variety of situations
  • Maintain a productive, professional and secure working environment
