Gousto Levy-Gifting Strengthens Leadership at FareShare and Network Partners

Gousto is equipping managers with vital leadership skills to support FareShare’s mission of redistributing surplus food to those in need.

Gousto and FareShare are working together to empower managers to lead high-performing teams

Gousto has generously donated a portion of their apprenticeship levy to support leadership development at FareShare in a continued demonstration of corporate social responsibility and support for the charitable sector. Their contribution enables managers within FareShare and its network partners to join Corndel’s Leadership and Management Level 5 Diploma, helping to build the skills necessary to lead high-performing teams and drive impactful change.

The programme launches on 25 September, with a cohort of managers embarking on this transformative journey, reinforcing FareShare’s mission to ensure no good food goes to waste.

Gousto’s Partnership with FareShare

Gousto’s partnership with FareShare is deeply rooted in a shared commitment to reducing food waste and supporting communities in need. FareShare, the UK’s largest food redistribution charity, plays a pivotal role in redirecting surplus food from producers to nearly 1 million people annually through a network of over 8,000 local charities and community groups.

By investing in the development of FareShare’s leadership, Gousto is extending its impact beyond food donations, empowering managers with the skills they need to lead effectively and support FareShare’s life-changing work across its 18 national redistributors.

Loretta Durling, Learning and Development Manager Gousto comments:

"We have worked with FareShare since December 2020 with the aim to help stamp out food waste and help feed people who may otherwise go hungry. We obsess about food waste and leaving both our planet and our people better off. For the food waste we cannot avoid, we have a system in place to organise it as it comes out of our factories, and each year FareShare pick up hundreds of tonnes of food – we have helped them provide over a million meals in the last 2 years!"
Rosie Martin, Learning and Development Manager, FareShare says:

"FareShare are thrilled to celebrate the launch of our Level 5 Leadership and Management qualification with Corndel! We are so pleased to invest in our talented managers, and to foster more collaboration across our amazing network of partner organisations. Corndel have a fantastic reputation for delivering this qualification and their approach has been consistently supportive and appreciative of the network structure that makes FareShare special. We are immensely grateful to our friends at Gousto for their support – we absolutely could not be doing this without you."

A Call for Future Partnerships

Gousto’s contribution demonstrates how corporate levy-gifting can align with business goals while creating a positive social impact. We invite other organisations to explore how their unspent levy funds can support causes that matter to them and make a real difference in the community.

On behalf of FareShare, their network, and the countless lives touched by their work, we extend our sincere thanks to Gousto for their generous support. This collaboration paves the way for stronger leadership and a more resilient charitable sector.

The Corndel Levy Pledge

The Corndel Levy Pledge is at the heart of this initiative, addressing a pressing issue in the charitable sector – the underutilisation of available funds. Many charities struggle to stay afloat because of economic challenges and a decline in charitable donations. Since its inception the Corndel Levy Pledge has successfully redirecting £5 million of unused Levy funds to charities over the past three years.
