Clinical and non-clinical NHS employees will now have the opportunity to upskill in critical digital skills through accredited data and tech apprenticeships delivered by Corndel and Imperial College Business School
AnalystX has entered a new partnership with Corndel, the leading workplace training provider, to deliver a range of data and tech skills apprenticeship programmes uniquely tailored to the NHS. The first cohort of NHS Data Analyst learners will join the programme this month.
The workplace training programmes, delivered by Corndel in partnership with Imperial College Business will be available to all employees, from career starters to senior leaders, across all NHS foundations and trusts.
The partnership enables the NHS to upskill its workforce in critical data and tech skills, improving data-led decision-making and embedding a culture of informed, evidence-based practices within the organisation. AnalystX is the arm of the NHS leading this movement by sharing learning across health and social care beyond typical organisational and geographic boundaries.
Corndel and Imperial will deliver three levels of apprenticeship training programmes that lead to an accredited professional qualification: Data Analyst, Data Engineer, and DevOps Engineering.
The next data cohorts will begin in spring 2025.
Corndel’s partnership with Imperial College Business School brings together Corndel’s experience and expertise in workplace skills training and Imperial College Business School’s globally renowned academic excellence in healthcare and data science. NHS learners will have access to one-to-one personalised coaching, expert-led workshops, and masterclasses with Imperial College Business School’s leading academics as part of their learning journey.
James Kelly, co-founder and CEO of Corndel, said: “Data-driven decision-making is fundamental to success in today’s workplace, yet many organisations struggle to attract and retain top data and tech talent. We’re delighted to extend our partnership with the NHS to provide critical upskilling for the NHS workforce with our bespoke data and tech programmes. These programmes will empower NHS employees with the actionable skills and knowledge needed to make an immediate impact in their professional roles, ultimately enhancing the quality of patient care and operational efficiency.”
Ming Tang, Chief Data and Analytics Officer at NHS England, said: “Partnering with Corndel strategically aligns with our goal to enhance the digital, data and technology (DDaT) competencies of NHS staff and build our future digital workforce. With significant advancements in digital transformation, the NHS recognises the transformative impact of data-led apprenticeship programmes in developing the skills and capabilities necessary to continue harnessing opportunities.”
Loy Lobo, Non Executive Director for the Essex Partnership University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Programme Lead for the Digital Transformation in Healthcare, and the NHS Executive Development Programmes at Imperial College Business School, said: “The evolution in frontline digitisation of the NHS requires us to build a data-curious workforce who feel empowered to continuously improve and transform healthcare from its current pressured and reactive model to an anticipatory and proactive model that involves all participants in the whole system. I welcome Corndel’s data programmes as a core resource to support our NHS colleagues on that journey.”
Funded by the apprenticeship levy
All of the NHS data and tech apprenticeship programmes are fully funded by the Apprenticeship Levy. Corndel also recently shared a toolkit and guide – Planning and Optimising Your Apprenticeship Levy in the NHS – to support NHS learning and development professionals as they navigate the apprenticeship levy system and understand how to access funding for upskilling their employees in key skills.
