Meet our Professional Development Experts: Grace Mosuro, Leadership and Management

10 October 2019 by Isla Lightfoot

Grace Mosuro is a Professional Development Expert on our Corndel Leadership and Management programmes. Grace is a retail specialist, so works with our retail clients. She started her career in retail recruitment at Michael Page, establishing the very successful retail recruitment desk, supporting client with Operational and Head office roles. She credits this role with her detailed understanding of the retail environment.

Grace moved into the ‘welfare to work’ space, supporting disadvantaged people into work in retail and here is where she gained her coaching experience. She managed the regional employer services team across London and the South East, moving into a stakeholder engagement role.

‘Coaching is always something I’ve naturally done, within my previous roles. The best managers are natural coaches. I love coaching my learner managers to develop in their role and perform to the best of their ability.’

‘I completed a 12-month leadership programme in my previous company and was coached by leaders. I found this such a valuable learning experience, so when I saw Corndel taking a similar approach, this was something I definitely wanted to be a part of. The role is such an important one, as the impact of effective leadership and management coaching can be extremely significant; if done with the learner at the heart of it.’

‘Sharing what my learners get out of the programmes, particularly those who’ve gone through challenging times in the duration and come out the other side with a qualification, is a privilege. My success is my learners’ success and I love seeing them achieve things they don’t always believe they can.’

‘As Professional Development Experts, we share with our learners, working through their issues. The journey on these programmes is about so much more than the qualification. Life doesn’t stop whilst you are studying. Our role isn’t just to deliver a course, it’s to support our learners through this stage in their life.’

‘For me the challenge is always how to make the biggest impact. Education and training is an ever-changing industry and we constantly have to adapt, but that also keeps it really interesting.’

‘I think Corndel’s approach to employing people with ‘lived in’ experience of the roles that our learners do and a deep understanding of the industry they operate within, really benefits our learners. We understand their challenges and can share what works for us. Feedback from my learners and our clients is that they resoundingly agree.’
