Fraser Morgan joined Corndel in July 2020, after a twenty-year career that spanned software implementation in the microchip design industry, teaching and senior project management.
This combination of practical industry experience and subject matter expertise, alongside teaching and coaching experience, made Fraser the ideal choice to tutor on the Corndel Level 3 and Level 4 Diplomas in Data Analytics, and contribute to the curricula.
After graduating from Southampton University with a degree in Electronic Engineering, Fraser joined EDA Solutions, supporting the design of microchips and software implementation. Following this period in industry he trained as a teacher and spent ten years combining classroom delivery for ages 5 to 18 with a Data Analytics role across the county of Hampshire. This included analysis of pre- and post- inspection data for Ofsted, and the production and visualisation of progress and assessment across cohorts of schools in the county utilising a variety of technologies and tools.
Fraser returned to EDA Solutions in a senior role, Leading and Project Managing international Mentor Graphics/Siemens IC design tool implementation and change management projects across EMEA. He introduced Agile Project and Performance Management methodologies with a team comprised of employees across Europe and America and contractors working from the Middle East. He regularly presented at Board meetings and led teams using Kanban and Scrum methodologies. In this challenging sector Fraser consistently achieved above-industry average, year-on-year growth.
Fraser was recruited by Sphera as a Senior Consulting Manager, to project manage global and international software implementations with scope and impact in 7 figure $value. Sphera delivers critical safety software predominantly for the Oil and Gas Industry. Here he gained his PRINCE2 qualification and further developed his knowledge of project operationalisation and data analytics.
Fraser’s combination of versatile Manager and Leader with comprehensive commercial experience, alongside his teaching experience and clear desire to get the best out of people, is what Corndel looks for in our PDEs. Fraser enjoys the team dynamics at Corndel, the open conversations and available and proactive support. “Corndel has the energy and innovative approach of a start up, but without the chaos.”. He particularly enjoys working with his learners both at workshops and one-to-one. “We run half day monthly workshops and additional one-to-one sessions on the Data Analytics programmes, so you really get to know your learners very quickly and are able to assist them.”
Fraser admits he came into Corndel with pre-supposed ideas around the age range and level of seniority of an apprentice: “I very quickly came to realise I was wrong. My apprentices include senior Vice Presidents, recent graduates and everything in between. The requirement, especially at Vice President level, is to be furnished with enough information and competency around Data analytics to be able to challenge and perform from a position of knowledge.”
One of the things Fraser has been particularly impressed with is the Corndel Outplacement programme: “Inevitably in this climate, some learners have been made redundant, so to offer a free outplacement support programme, that coaches them through finding a new role, is both invaluable and feels like the right thing to do. I’m proud to work for an organisation that creates initiatives like this.”
