Meet the speaker: Prof. Deeph Chana
Managing Director, NATO Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic (DIANA)
Prof Chana has joined DIANA as its first Managing Director, bringing with him extensive experience of leading innovative science and technology research and development in academia, industry and government, focusing on global risks and next generation infrastructure security. He is joining DIANA from Imperial College London where he was Director of the Institute for Security Science and Technology and Co-Director of the Centre for Financial Technology within Imperial College Business School.
Prof Chana has consulted and lectured worldwide with businesses and governments on the nature and implications of disruptive and emerging technologies, and he has several decades of experience in technology entrepreneurship, covering a wide range of applications spanning quantum cascade laser detectors to materials science.
Established by the current Secretary General, Prof Chana was the founding Chair of NATO’s Advisory Group on Emerging and Disruptive Technologies and is currently a high-level science advisor to the UK’s Ministry of Defence. Prof Chana holds MSci and PhD degrees in Physics from King’s College London.
Deeph will be the keynote speaker for this event and then join the panel of experts to expand the discussion.

Meet the panelist: Dr. Mike Hoffman
Director of Curriculum (AI Engineering), Corndel
Dr. Mike Hoffman is the Director of Curriculum (AI Engineering) at Corndel, where he leads the new and exciting ML engineering apprenticeship. He previously developed a novel Data Engineering apprenticeship standard, having also served as Senior Lecturer in Computer Science and Cyber Security – teaching programming, secure architectures and cloud technologies. Outside of education, Mike worked in multiple industry technology roles from investment banking to online travel and music streaming.
Outside the realm of tech, Mike is a qualified psychotherapist, merging his passion for teaching, mentoring and coaching with societal demands of living an ever-evolving digital world. A distinguished graduate of Imperial, with an MEng in Software Engineering, an MSc in Psychology, and a PhD in Web Science, Dr Hoffman believes in harnessing technology to foster curiosity, fairness, and the well-being of individuals and communities.
Whether guiding learners through cutting-edge AI concepts or advocating for ethical, humane technology, Dr. Mike Hoffman stands at the forefront of educational leadership and innovation, with a strong belief that TechEd plays a key role in shaping the future of our societies.
